BayArea.com : Find random thoughts of strangers in blogs "people who think their warped relationships, car trouble and mental illnesses are of interest to a vast audience"
That's not a way to describe bloggers in general, in my opinion. It would better describe some percentage of on-line diaries & journals, certainly. But what these articles I read seem to miss is that the way a person publishes on the web has little to do with the content they publish.
The interesting point I find I have to make is that I don't talk about my warped relationships, car trouble, or mental illness on this blog, that's for sure. I don't really talk about that kind of thing on my not-journal - a site which I certainly don't think is appealing to a "vast audience" by any stretch of the imagination. And indeed, people who do talk at length about their mental illness & warped relationships actually do seem to interest what some might consider to be a vast audience.
One thing I did find funny was the writer's comment on one blog he read: "I feel for a man who lives in a world without capital letters. I can hardly wait for the next installment."
Clearly not all blogs lack capital letters. Clearly one cannot accurately generalize about blogs. (link via LizSpeaks.com)

The point to remember, then, is that written words have permanency, and thoughts carelessly put on paper can, when not destroyed by accident, exist for hundreds of years.
