CNN.com - NASA clock could set time for universe - Sep. 26, 2002 "Had a new atomic clock developed by NASA started ticking when the universe was young, it would have remained accurate enough today to get you to a lunch engagement on time."
If only the Windows operating system clock could be so accurate. heh.

You can find all pertinent information about eye drops on nipples on a new comprehensive post (page): The 'Visine on Nipples' Myth (debunked)
Disturbing Search Requests is an hilarious collaborative blog by people who share site tracking information on what people typed into search engines that wound them up at their sites.
I've mentioned before that every so often I check out BoingBoing's search engine query referral logs, because they're some of the funniest I've seen. Just today I saw that someone found BoingBoing by typing "VISINE ON NIPPLES" into the search engine. I read BoingBoing semi-regularly, but I don't remember an entry mentioning that. heh. I'm really not curious enough to go search for myself - besides, it's funnier by itself. heh.
Update: See full text of comments for full explanation of the "Visine on Nipples" or "eye drops on nipples" contemporary myth and its origins.
This site has an applet where you can make a graphic sand art picture.
This is what I made today:
People who know me will understand what's on my mind. heh. (link via Mood Swings)
NPR: Photos from the Scene of the Crime L.A. Police Archives Yield Historic, Sometimes Grisly Images
This is the story I woke up to this morning. I had to visit the web site, of course, to see the photos, since they were described as more interesting & artistic than today's police photos. I agree. Despite the fact that it's a dead body lying on the ground, that first photo in the article, I think, is beautiful. If my body ever had to be depicted in a police photo, I wouldn't mind one like that.
A noisy alarm or a mirage of an open pit... which would you rather scaring your grandma?
NPR : Nursing Homes Find Aides Key to Good Care
Wellspring aides are given extra training, and are encouraged to make changes without a supervisor's approval. A common nursing home practice to control wandering Alzheimer's residents is to install alarms on doors. When a resident wanders through, the alarm sounds and aides go retrieve the resident.
But nurse aides at Good Shepherd came up with a quieter, hands-off solution. At a training session, they learned that for people with dementia, a patch of black on the floor will look like an open pit.
Without seeking administration approval, the aides had janitors paint black spots near off-limit doors. It worked; residents turned back when they encountered the spots.
I don't know. Something just seems creepy about the open pits.
This is just a general announcement to remind everyone that it's September, and as such, usage of the word "spooktacular" is still out of season. In just over 2 weeks, it will be in season. Surely you can manage to wait until then before including it in your speech & writings.
