My mother's dedication to bowling
About 2 years ago, my mother, cut her finger while preparing a meal while my step-father was out. She was bleeding profusely.
When my step-father arrived home, he took her to the emergency room at the hospital. As is well known, care in ERs is extremely slow, unless one has an actual object protruding from one's body.
(Indeed, during my recent trials trying without much success in getting timely medical attention, Dave had suggested sticking a tree in my leg, and taking me to the ER so when they'd ask "What exactly happened here?" I could say "Well, I have this tree in my leg, but I'm really here about my horrible abdominal pain.")
So my mother was stuck in the waiting room at the ER after the triage nurse slapped a temporary bandage over it.
After waiting an hour or so, my mother realized it was time that she went to her bowling league.
And yes, she left the ER with her bleeding finger, went bowling, bowled 3 good games (she's the best bowler on her team), and then noticed that the blood was seeping through the temporary bandage.
So my step-father took her back to the ER, and they arrived just as the person who was ahead of her in line earlier was actually taken in to see the doctor.
It turned out my mother's finger needed 4 stitches!
