not-blue moon

NPR : Blue Moon on Thursday? Not So Fast

It's NOT a blue moon this week... Guess I don't have to clean my car after all...

There is a prevailing myth about what a blue moon is. Thursday, May 31, will bring the second full moon of the month. But that does not constitute a blue moon, as is popularly believed.
Kelly Beatty, editor of Night Sky magazine and executive editor of Sky and Telescope, tells Robert Siegel that a blue moon actually refers to the phenomenon of having four full moons in a season, which ordinarily has three.

clownish bank robber?

Orange-haired suspect caught in salon - CNN.com

I think orange hair would make you conspicuous just about anywhere.

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) -- Where is an orange-haired bank robbery suspect most likely to hang out? The salon, of course.
That's where police found Mark Dennis, who was wanted in a Tuesday robbery in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The 24-year-old may have been trying to change his hair color to conceal his identity, said J.J. Kalaver, an agent in the FBI's Philadelphia division.
"Maybe in a big city you can get away with walking around with orange hair, but in a smaller town you probably stand out," he said.
Why not just get a bottle of hair dye at the grocery store?

chris carney thinks hate crimes are okay?

NEPA Rainbow Alliance - BLOG - Blog Archive - Congressman Carney Votes Anti-Gay.

so much for Chris Carney being "liberal"... and so much for his campaign promises...

He didn't just abstain, he actually voted against a hate crimes bill. After he promised to vote for it.

Even if you're not gay, this might pertain to you. Many people have been harrassed or attacked because someone thought they were gay, because they didn't fit gender stereotypes.
So beware all women in Tunkhannock who don't wear make-up & high heels!

This isn't about homosexuality. It's about crime.

One might expect this sort of thing from Don Sherwood, because, after all, he's an openly socially conservative Republican. But I wonder if even he would oppose a law against hate crimes!

And it sure makes me wonder what other "liberal" campaign promise Chris Carney will renege on next...
Health care? Small businesses? Social Security?

What else is he going to flake out on? Maybe you'll want to contact him and find out...
