If you would like to become a NEPABlogger, please read the guidelines below, and then submit the correct form on the Contact page.
Guidelines for NEPABlog Bloggers:

The following guidelines are set to ensure that this is an inclusive, not exclusive project, and to avoid legal and social problems that can arise on-line and off-line. Some may seem obvious, but the end result should be to make for a comfortable experience for everyone.
  • Your posts, in the BLOG or photoBLOG, must be directly related to Northeastern Pennsylvania.
  • You must only use basic HTML tags in posts, such as links, line breaks, bold, italics, underline, and strike.
  • You must avoid copyright infringement.
  • If you quote, you must link to the page from which you took the quote. All direct quotes must be enclosed in at least quotation marks, preferably italicized using line breaks before & after the quote - particularly for longer quotes. (In other words, it needs to be obvious you're quoting.)
  • Your post must not contain slander. (We don't want to get sued.)
  • Your post must not contain slurs or discrimination against a person or people because of race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, medical condition, disability, economic status, political affiliation, or area of residence. (This should be pretty obvious, but examples of this would be if you said "All Southerners are stupid" or "Republicans stink" or used "the N word" to describe someone with a dark complexion. Just don't do it.)
  • Use care when posting on controversial subjects. Debates should be conducted with civility. This is not The Jerry Springer Show, it's not even Crossfire. It's a group of people who care about & are interested in the area. Opinions are fine. But if you want a heated debate filled with excitement, I recommend you become active in the NEPABlog Informal Discussion Forums.
  • You must not post photos in the BLOG, you may post photos in the photoBLOG.
  • The photoBLOG is only for posting photos. Text only posts do not belong in the photoBLOG.
  • Photos posted in the photoBLOG must be 500 pixels wide or LESS. Photos larger than that must be resized either with image editing software, or with HTML tags. (As a general rule it's best not to use HTML tags to resize photos too much - with that, and loading time issues, photos should not be more than 650 pixels wide at actual size.) You may post a link to the photo at actual size.
  • Photos posted must be your own property. That means you should not post a photo unless you were the photographer, the photo was taken with your camera, the photographer has given you permission (in which case, credit is posted).
  • Photos must be saved on your own hosting server or ISP web hosting space, and linked to from there.
  • Photos must be dated in the post. If you're unsure about the date the photo was taken, estimate.
  • Photos are to be left aligned (ie: not centered).
  • Photos containing children are not allowed EXCEPT under the following conditions: the child is yours; the child's parents have given permission; the child is unrecognizable because of position or distance; the child is part of a crowd in a public place.
  • Pornographic topics or photos are prohibited.
  • Posts which are purely commercial are not recommended. Publicizing an event is one thing, a blatant spam (advertisement only post) is out of the question.
  • Posting unverifiable statements or claims is not recommended. If you're not sure of the veracity of a claim or statement, indicate that in your post. (In other words, here at the NEPABlog, we do not go by the notion that "a claim true until it's proven wrong".)
  • Refrain from excessive use of language you wouldn't hear on daytime network television.
  • Do not post in ALL CAPS, AlTeRnAtInG cApS, or all lowercase letters. At least form something akin to complete sentences with proper capitalization and punctuation. (Poetic verse is exempt from this, but it has to be in context.)
  • Do NOT use internet chat room abbreviations. They are difficult to read in the web site context, and not all NEPABlog readers are familiar with them.
