NoCallsPlease.com - Pennsylvania "Do Not Call List"
........................
The law, now in effect: "Every telemarketer that calls consumers in Pennsylvania is required to purchase the list from the list administrator. The telemarketer must then remove every name on the "Do Not Call" list from their calling lists within 30 days of receiving the list. A violation of the law carries a civil penalty of up to $1,000, or $3,000 if the person contacted is age 60 or older."
"If you sign up for the DNC list before March 14th, you should see a reduction in calls beginning April 1st."

I have all 3 of my phone #s on this list. Now, if only there were such a list for e-mail spam, eh?

Definitely. I mean, I have an unlisted phone # and I was still getting some telemarketing calls... but I haven't had a single one since December, and I signed up for it in November I think. I have a friend who has call waiting - and sometimes in a single phone conversation with her, she'll get 3 telemarketing calls on the call waiting! I told her about this recently because she didn't know about it... and then I heard about it again on WVIA radio news the other morning, so that's what prompted me to post this now - I don't know if anyone had posted it before - but a lot of people still don't know about it and still live with the aggravation.

If you live in Pennsylvania, you can sign your cell phone # up for this "Do Not Call" List. I registered my cell phone #, even though it's not yet gotten any telemarketing calls... at least now it likely won't ever. I have heard about people getting telemarketing calls on their cell phones. I think that's awful - because you'd think a telemarketing company would know it was a cell phone. As for nationally, I read in the Washington Post's Technews.com today that they're trying to get a nationwide Do Not Call List. Hopefully that will happen soon too. Though telemarketing associations are calling it an infringement on their free speech - pfft - which I don't understand at all.
