Thanks for that link, Alison. I never knew all this mystery was attached to the town of Olyphant! Well, I'd never been there before, but tonight I took the opportunity to get a little peek at the town by giving a friend a lift home, who lives in Olyphant, after my having my curiosity raised. I have to say, what little I saw of it, it looks like a pretty cute town. I'm going to keep that area in mind when I shop for a house (this summer or next). I'll check maps for alignment, of course. ;) ;)

I work in Olyphant and there certainly doesn't seem to be anything cosmic or different about it. There are a lot of churches concentrated together in other towns too - and most churches are big beautiful structures...

I am a student at Marywood University in scranton, PA and recently heard about Olyphant's "secret". Since I know some people from Olyphant, I am bent on prying for more information. I've seen some unusual things in this area and this has peaked my curiosity.

olyphant at one time-probably in the 1930's and 40's-had the highest ratio of bars/taverns to people in the entire country. My mother was born and raised there. Yes there are a high number of churches in the borough too. As for the "pyramid", it was and may still be commonly referred to as "the red" or "big red" all it is is a mountain made up entirely of mine scrap rock-left over from the days when coal mining was king. My mother told me about watching it being "built" Rails for the cars were actually laid along the sw side....rail ties and the rusted cable used to pull the cars up the incline can still be seen today-just stand on North Valley Avenue in olyphant-at the point by Jackson Street-and look for yourself. I have climbed up there several times-it is in fact 1/3 smaller now than it was in the 1970's, as during the early 1980's some of the mine waste was reclaimed and used to fill underground chasms in the area.Anyone who may want to see a picture of what the "red" used to look like please email me...ill send one along!

I've been to dozens of cookouts in olyphant boro and no one there even has the slightest idea of any secret! I refuse to believe that you cannot re-create the truth trek site on the web! There may be some truth to this. There is some sort of passageway in olyphant. It is located under the railroad tracks by the Comdella park in the flats section. If you walk along the side of the railroad embankment for about 750 feet north from the point where North valley st turns towards the grassy section of town, you will come to a stone archway that runs underneath the old D&H tracks. There is an arch on either side of the railroad tracks.....but it is BLOCKED OFF....so perhaps if someone were to break through whatever is blocking this passage, you might find more to the secret!

I am a retired Olyphant Police Officer. I would like to point out that the "pyramid" which Mr. Peruka speaks of is nothing more than an old culm dump from the mines. The high rise was built in the early 1980's on what used to be the Boro municpal parking lot. The placement of the houses of worship is pure coincidence, as is the fact that Olyphant Boro has an elevation twice as high as that of the pyramids. I put absolutely no stock in Mr. Perukas' claims. The fact that he is a retired chemist leads me to question what exactly he was making as a chemist. Recreational drugs perhaps??

After reading some of the story Mr. Peruka had written about Olyphant. I decided to take a ride there. I got to town not knowing what to expect. I drove onto Main Street. I looked like most small towns. But what strikes you is the Churches. I said to myself why are there so many? I couldn't believe the opulance of these churches in such a small town. I drove around Main Street then I turned up to Magnetic road and followed that all the way to the top. I was hoping to get a overhead view of the town. When I reached the top I could feel an energy. Right after this I drove back down to look at the churches closer. I stopped at the biggest church. It was a Catholic one. Not being a practicing Catholic I wanted to see inside the church. I walked up to the door and found it locked. I then walked to the front of the Church and while I was there looking up at the entrance a women appeared besides me, she was carrying some Church papers. I looked at her, she said nothing so I said "is the church open". She answered no there is a private Mass going on. I said I never heard of a private mass? She said well it's a new priest. She then asked me why I was there. I answered I was just passing through and wanted to see thease ornate Churches. She asked me if I wanted a tour. I said yes. We had to wait for the mass to be over. Then she took out her keys and opened the door. when we entered I was besides myself. This was the most fantactic church I have ever been in. The Stained glass was extrodinary. And the dome which rose over a hundred feet in the middle. Wow what a church. I met the new priest there and we spoke a little. Now it was off to the second on my tour. Just two blocks away is another Catholic church with a beautifull facard dipicting a story from the Bible. We went in. It wasn't as wonderous but would make any Catholic proud. We walked up to the Alter and the women told me I could have one wish. I said what? Did you say wish? Yes she replied. So I silently made a wish. She then told me that the other Catholic church accross the street was in the proccess of comming under their diocess. I asked you mean these three churches are under different diocess. She answered yes. I found this very weird. Comming from NYC where all churches are under one. She had later taken me on a tour of their office building. I thanked her for the tour and left there. I drove around a little more always getting this intuitive feeling there is something elce to this place. I have no real Idea about anything happing there but town had my senses on high the whole time I was there. I will be going back soon. this time I hope to learn more. If Mr. Paruka wouldn't mine emailing me I would love his help on my return trip. Then I will write here again and tell what I thing is going on in this town if anything.

I don't know who Mr. Oliveri's tour guide was but the info she purportedly gave him is full of errors. He is right, there is no such thing as a private Mass. Belief that a wish will be granted at the altar is superstition, not Catholicism. All the Roman Catholic churches in Olyphant are under the aegis of the Diocese of Scranton. There's a lot of weirdness around and not necessarily in Olyphant.

To my critics I know that The Secret of Olyphant will become a very controversial story, it is already beginning. As far as recreating the Truth Trek website I do not even own a computer and if i did I wouldnt know where to begin, I use the libraries computer. The Truthtrek website was in Wisconsin and was cancelled because of financial problems. If anyone can publish my theory on his or her website I would gladly appreciate it. The best bet is to go to the Peckville or Carbondale libraries and study the theory and evidence our researches have discovered before coming to a wrong conclusion. Our small research group is headed by former research engineer from Bell Laboratories and he backs our claims. Incidentally the great magician Harry Houdini is involved. The Jewish Temple which is in the center of the Orion star pattern is owned by a world famous magician who also owns the the Houdini museum in north scranton and she lives next door to the temple in Olyphant.The evidence shows that Houdini is all over Olyphant. The latest news on Olyphant is that it was shown on TV in the Philadelphia area and researchers from the Montauk project are investigating the story. Also a documentary film is to be made at the end of the summer. The theory is about 150 pages long and involves some mathematics. It is the first theory to define matter, life and death, and reality.It also claims that you donot die but live forever. I hope that you will study it at the mentioned libraries. Scientists thruout the world have found it very interesting and i know that you will find it very interesting also. The door in Olyphant that goes to another world is about 6mi above the churches. Mr.Oliveri went somewhere, but I don't think to Olyphant. Olyphant does not have a "Main St." The main street that runs through downtown Olyphant is Lackawanna Avenue. There is no such street as Magnetic Road either. If Mr. Oliveri wanted to see the town from above, he could go up E. Lackawanna Avenue or E. Grant St. By far the best place to see Olyphant from "above" is from St. Patricks Cemetery on Route 6 (scranton-carbondale highway) This cemetery is accessible from route 6 and is located across from where you would turn to go to route 347. These are facts. What churches did Mr. Oliveri go to? I'd like to know!

The Secret of Olyphant. The greatest story in world history. About the giant sphinx in Olyphant. Olyphant is designed after ancient Egypt but the mystery is that no one knew it although someone told me that there was a small rumour about it about 50 years ago. The giant sphinx that is about 5mi long is the bourough itself. If you locate a contour map of Lackawanna county and trace the boundary lines the boro of Olyphant forms a giant sphinx. The lackawanna river forms the face of the Pharaoh which may be a woman, our researchers cannot figure it out. That is why the river makes a bend past the downtown section,this is the jaw of the pharaoh of the giant sphinx. As far as the giant sphinx is concerned there is no disagreement as to what it is. Everybody agrees that it is a sphinx including the new boro manager. We have also a photo from the 1950s of a great pyramid overlooking downtown Olyphant. We ask people where is this town in the picture. Most of them reply that it is Cairo Egypt. It is a culm dump near the post office but 50years ago it formed a perfect pyramid. Now it is completely eroded and covered with trees. How the secret is hidden can be found in the next piece of evidence. I was trained for science and i donot make claims without any evidence to support the claims. At the southern entrance to Olyphant along South Valley Ave. [valley as in valley of the kings] was another culm dump in the shape of a pyramid. In fact a resident there told me several years ago and now may be dead that they called the dump the Pyramid. The next street is Gravity St. Newtons Universal Theory of Gravity which is based on the inverse square law when drawn out forms a pyramid which i will show you is the basic form of all of mattter and creation.The great question that will have to be answered is who created Olyphant? The people of Olyphant built Olyphant but they did not create the town. Somebody told them how to it because they never knew what they were doing and for what purpose. We can look for clues in the Sphinx. Notice the sphinx doesnot have a nose just like the one in Egypt. Why? Because for the Lackawanna River to form a nose the river would have to make an acute angle followed by right angle in a short distance which would be very difficult and it would be very conspicuous. The Secret of Olyphant cont: I couldn't figure what it was and so I went downstairs and I forgot about it. About two months later in Sept. I decided to read once again The Andreasson Affair a fantastic Ufo abduction Story. Betty Andreasson a housewife from Mass. claimed thru hypnosis that she was abducted by alien beings in 1967 and they took her to talk to God or some other fantastic being of light. I was interested in her story because the first time that i read it the leader of the aliens mentioned my Pyramid Theory. On page 139 he told Betty this is very important, circle the plain three four, three four,and there is a door that is about to be opened. He also said that your scientists should bury the past. In other words we are on the wrong track to discovering the secrets of the universe and only by going thru the door we will discover the truth. Betty recalled that at the very beginning of her journey she was envelloped in a chamber of sorts and a syrupy warm liquid was poured into the chamber which made her feel good. If i remember the liquid protected her from space radiation and she was able to breathe thru a tube. I've encountered the "secret door" in Olyphant. I've had the thrilling experience of actually walking through the doorway. You know, I was ready to chalk this up as hogwash, ESPECIALLY since the Carbondale library had no information on this whatsoever. However, I did a bit more research and found that Olyphant is indeed the center of the universe! Remember the episode where Kirk and Spock travel to the past and they have to let Joan Collins die. Well, they landed in Olyphant! Superman's rocketship landed in Olyphant as well, not Smallville! Bruce Wayne's parents were killed in Olyphant! Peter Parker got bit by a radioactive spider in Olypant! Bruce Banner's accident with gamma rays that turned him into the Hulk happebed in Olyphant as well! And the reason there is so many bars in Olyphant is that Wolverine used to live here during his formative World War II days! The accident that turned Matt Murdock into Daredevil happened in Olyphant as well! In fact, Olyphant is SUCH a key to the universe that it is the only reason galactus has not eaten the earth! Even he is scared of the consequences! This was all originally reported, then changed by the corporate honchos at DC and Marvel! Seems some very powerful people don't want it revealed how powerful Olyphant really is! I think it's the same people who covered up the Kennedy assassination!

Let those who dismiss your theory be dismissed as the fools they are! I, the great Sphinx, know full well the power Olyphant holds! I wasted centuries plotting world domination, and receiving worship from human cattle, in Egypt. I thought Egypt was glorious! The pyramids! The wenches! The unconditional worship! The POWER! But everytime I tried to assert my rightful authority as ruler of the world and the rest of this plane of existence, fools like The fantastic Four, The Avengers, and even The new Warriors laid me low! The Secret OF Olyphant cont, The greatest story in world history, Who created Olyphant? The beginning of the Enlightenment. A small diversion from the story so far. George Roonie who is the nightly host on the radio show Coast to Coast has been complaining for the past year that he keeps seeing the number 111 all over the place on his clock watch etc. A person called his radio show and said that the number 111 symbolized the coming enlightenment where man learns of the secrets of the universe and why he doesnt die. If you go back to that a=1, b=2, c=3,etc you will find that Olyphant equals 111. In other words the enlightenment begins in Olyphant. Now back to our ufo story, The Andreasson Affair by Raymond Fowler. Betty Anreasson a housewife from Mass. was abducted by alien beings and she talked to a God like being of Light and encountered a giant Phoenix Bird who represented immortality. The God like being told that man will soon learn the secrets of the universe and he mentioned his son whereby Betty was overcome by emotion. She asked him why she was taken to this alien realm and the being told her that was to show the world and it will be revealed to the world as time goes on. The Phoenix bird was consumed by a fire and then disintegrated into a worm which eventually reemerged into a Phoenix Bird. Interesting. The fact the the anchor has been following you. It reminds me of those reader's digest stories about the family that accidently left their dog at the Grand Canyon as they were visiting from Pensacola florida and the dog actually made it back to the family home in Florida. The Secret of Olyphant. Gentlemen, Me and my associates accept your challenge but in a modified form. The problem is I do not own a computer and I use the libraries computer which has a time limit plus the fact that I explained in one of my messages that I do not know how to print and transmit photos and documents via the computer. The problem can be solved if I left a copy of the story that appeared on the www.truthtrek.net website last year at Russens bar which I used to hang out. The story which appeared on truthtrek was never finished and was only about 15% complete and there is a lot of interesting new information which I can give you if your are interested. Also when you receive this knowledge you must investigate my claims and try to prove me wrong which I know you will not be able to do and also tell others of this incredible discovery in Olyphant. Yesterday I gave the entire theory 150 pages to the mayor to study. You can study the entire theory at the Peckville library, ask Mary Barna the library director for The Secret of Olyphant. No one in the bar knew anyone listed on the petition and only a few patrons were familiar with the secret. So I left and headed for Vladickas bar and the story was the same. Therefore this afternoon I talked to the boro manager who is familiar with a part of the secret and he allowed me starting this tuesday to leave a copy of the internet story about Olyphant at the clerks office on the first floor. Wow thanks for giving me the best laugh I had all week! Mr. Peruka, you wouldn't happen to be the strange man who lives in the old Hotel Olyphant and walks around town talking to himself, are you? In regards to the "secret tunnel", I had been through that tunnel many times as a child, it went in on one side of the tracks and came out on the other. No mystery there. Maybe some cobwebs and a bat or two. Also, I believe Mr. Oliveri may have visited St. Patricks Church (the magnificent one) and then St. Michael's (the not-so-magnificent one). Those two churches, along with Holy Ghost recently joined together into one parish. My grandfather helped build St. Michaels, and although he was a great carpenter, he probably wasn't involved in the building of the 'Doorway' six miles above Olyphant. The 'Pyramid' of coal was actually the Red Rooster. We rode down this thing on cardboard boxes as children. I highly doubt it was twice the size of the Great Pyramids. It was actually a mountain of slate, scrapped or unburnable parts of the mined coal. It was, after all, situated in the middle of a coal mine. That might give some clues to what it was. There were trucks that carried the slate to the top and dumped it, thus forming a mountain. I saw this happen. It was not formed by aliens, I promise. There was also a smaller 'pyramid' closer to Throop, off of South Valley Ave. We called that one the "Black Rooster". Somebody bought that slate mountain and they moved it out, I think in the '70's. This webpage is great for comic relief, but: NOTE TO VISITORS: please don't fall into any of this bunk. Save your gas money!! Oh, one more thing...the anchor is actually in Blakely. Once you cross the river, you're out of Olyphant. I think it odd that the anchor would follow Mr. Peruka but not actually cross the town line into Olyphant. Also, I'm not exactly certain of this, but wasn't the anchor named after the ship "Blakely" thus the naming of the town? Or maybe it was the captain's name...either way I'd be shitting my pants to know that a big gold anchor was following me around. Lucky the cannon at the Flats park isn't somehow connected to his blood line (Mr. Peruka, you may want to check in to that!)

You will see I fixed the coding to show correct dates & times on posts. There was nothing at all supernatural or paranormal about the times having been all the same, it was merely a coding error in the blogging template - a typical & mundane mistake I had made. Sorry if I caused mass hysteria with that.
I deleted all double posted comments. Only exact copies of comments were deleted, I left at least one of each of the indentical comments.
I regularly delete spam comments from this thread. That is any, all, and only, off-topic comments with URLs pointing to some commercial entity or pornographic material.
I am even leaving Betty Chesar's comment, while it may seem off-topic, because a barbecue was mentioned earlier in the comment thread. Also, because I wouldn't want to be accused of deleting a comment that may have hidden meanings or secret codes contained within it.

Ed foff misses the gay bar. I saw recently strange lights in the night time sky around the olyphant post office. I was a little curious as I've read John's blog many times. So I sent my cat Clarence to investigate. I affixed an old flashlight to Clarences' head and sent him on his way. I didn't see him for three days after that. On the fourth day he returned with strange tales. It seems he was intercepted by Mr Peruka and forced to do unspeakable things. Things so unspeakable that it gave me nightmares, to say nothing of what it did to Clarence's fragile cat psyche. Clarence now misses notes on his bass guitar where before he played like a virtuoso. Clarence has also developed a taste for Tony's pizza where he always preferred Vince's. And to cap it off he's surly and yells profanities to schoolchildren that pass the house. Whatever went on, I don't like it one bit. Mr peruka will be turned into Peta at my earliest convenience. PS Clarence wants his kitty sweater and hash pipe back. You Cad.

Yes I was in Olyphant. what I called main street was just a word for the main street. Sorry I didn't remember the name. All that I said did happen there. I did not make anything up. Just two weeks ago two of my associates went to Olyphant. They had some really strange stories to tell. I will invite them to post it here. They are two psychic women. They had also met someone who gave them a tour. Not the person I met. They came back and immediately called me. They told me of their feeling enormous amounts of energy. They belive John has stumbled accross a nexus or gateway, a stargate. So I will let them tell their story.

Spike, I failed to mention that you are correct about the existance of things that cannot be weighed and measured scientifically. Surely, taking a DNA sample of a care giver wiil not explain why that care giver cares. So too, one cannot pour a glass full of love or hate yet, these things do exist and have a profound affect upon our lives. But, these are common place facts of our collective living experience..NOT out of the ordinary, other-wordly and uniquely strange happens that John claims to have been physically real and meaningful experiences. REALLY??? Raised in Olyphant from mid-1940s and left during 1960s, only to visit since. I remember lots, listened to elders lots, paid attention lots...and, was a USAF Project Blue Book investigator at Colorado. Study the UFO reports, read the declassified data, and look at the stealth technology. Most of us can handle the conclusion we draw. Many did and would say I am from, or still communicating with OUTER SPACE/THE UNIVERSE. My family numbered among Olyphant leaders during the late 1800s and early 1900s. My OPINION: This crock malignes the good people, past and present, who worked so hard to live at Olyphant...and still do. On the otherhand, maybe these people can raise a stir, get on FOX, CNN, etc. to start a tourism boom...and bring lots of money back to the Queen City, where there might have been more churches per capita than the surrounding Mid Valley. Here in Florida, I'll watch the weather channel, fondly remember my Olyphant, continue to admire the past, and sip lots of Margaritas. I will check back to this site, because it really is funny.

Has anyone one else done the math here? There is a very slim chance that this is THE John Peruka. If in fact he was a retired chemist who moved to Olyphant in the mid 1970's he would be in upwards of 95 years old if he retired in 1975 at age 65 and moved to Olyphant immediately. I find it highly unlikely that a 95 year old retired chemist with no computer would make his way to the local library so often to babble on like this.

I bought a Golden Retriever back in '95 off a couple in Olyphant. Days went by and I couldn't think of a name. It was a cold March evening around 11PM as I stood out my backdoor gazing at the Orion constellation in the cold winter sky. BAMM! That was the name that was given to our special friend who passed away last year in 04. ORION!! When I saw the picture of the churches in the Orion configuration gooosebumps roared throughout my flesh and that of my brothers who happened to be on the phone in the same freaked out state. i ivited you a long time ago and asked you to email me as well that email adress is parainquirygroup@aol.com well im not realy interested in joining a group i am head of the one im runing now and we are actully doing quite well for not having much of any adversiment and we got lots of places to go and we are trying to get ahold of someone so we can check out his house its more of less hit or miss cuse he works and then hes doing renavations to his house by him self so hes kinda hard to get ahold of but we are having a meeting this monday the 11th at dennys in dickson citiy and you are more then welcome to join and bring people but i would like to know how many so i can get the aporperit size tables cuse we already have about 11 people going to show up you can also contact me on aim/aol at parainquirygroup but its on my cell so it will take a little time for me to reply but you are more then welcome to contact me any time

we do alot at the meetings we have are bussness stuff to talk about some chating about random stuff telling are experances and storys introducing new members wich well be having abour 6 of them this meeting planing out some places to go and new places to look into and much more
