Local leaders urge quick movement on Sterling HotelPosted on Sun, Jun. 30, 2002 at TimesLeader.com
I can only hope that once the Sterling Hotel is bought they will restore the building. I realize that the cost would be more to restore and with cases similiar to the Sterling Hotel (for some reason I want to write the Hotel Sterling) they have torn down the original building and rebuilt... but if you have ever had the chance to enter the building, it is truly amazing. The whole street, much like most of downtown Wilkes-Barre, was bustling with business while I was in my late teens. I remember buying vinyl records at the Record Runner and then stopping off at Lowe's for lunch. Lowe's is still one of my favorite local dining establishments and is proof that business can thrive in downtown Wilkes-Barre, but I am getting off topic. I think this story, though long in the making, will be worth the time to follow.
